Wrestling team hosts triangular, loses to nationally-ranked Augsburg
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team hosted a non-conference triangular inside the Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Comets fell to Augsburg (Minn.) University, 30-12. All of the remaining matches during the event were exhibitions against the Auggies and Alma College.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team hosted a non-conference triangular inside the Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Comets fell to Augsburg (Minn.) University, 30-12. All of the remaining matches during the event were exhibitions against the Auggies and Alma College.
- At 125 pounds, senior Cameron Mahlich won a 4-3 decision. His four points were a takedown in the first period and escapes in the second and third periods.
- At 165 pounds, junior Dylan Briggs pinned Moise Madimba 38 seconds into the overtime period. Briggs rode Madimba for the entire third period to secure the riding time point and the send the bout to the extra session with the score tied at 9-9.
- At 285 pounds, sophomore Donovan King posted an 8-4 decision. He scored three takedowns in the first period before getting a reversal in the third period for his eight points.
- At 133 pounds, junior Reese Wallis lost a close 5-4 decision.
- At 141 pounds, freshman Dylan Phelps dropped a 7-4 sudden victory decision.
- At 197 pounds, junior Hunter Murphy fell by decision, 10-6.
- Olivet's other losses were a pin at 149 pounds, and technical falls at 157, 174 and 184 pounds.
- At 149 pounds, freshman Christian Lenon won two matches, 8-6 over Caleb Benshoof (Augsburg) and 19-4 over Jackson Rumery (Alma).
- At 174 pounds, sophomore Zach Wells had two falls, pinning Carter Paulson (Augsburg) in 3:49 and Luke Wilson (Augsburg) in 6:41.
- At 285 pounds, sophomore Dominick Wilson posted a 2-0 record, 12-0 over Tyler Kim (Augsburg) and 2-0 over Tim Mandyck (Augsburg).
- Mahlich and King each won an extra match to finish 2-0 for the day. Mahlich beat Yim-leej Yang (Augsburg), 10-8, and King pinned Mandyck in 3:34.
- Also recording pins were Phelps (1:42) against Aedon Oberdorfer (Augsburg), junior Channing Perry (1:36) against Owen Atienza (Alma), sophomore Owen Guilford (2:31) against Luke Wilson (Augsburg) and junior Austin Engle (1:04) against Clayton Todd (Alma).
- Olivet returns to the mat Saturday, February 13, for the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Dual Meet Championships. Alma is the host school.
