DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College wrestling team posted a 16-10 overall record, including an 8-2 mark by the varsity wrestlers, in a round-robin tournament this afternoon at Defiance (Ohio) College and inside the Karl H. Weaner Center in Defiance, Ohio. Highlighting the action was sophomore Donovan King breaking the school record with a five-second pin.
- King pinned Seth Bowman in five seconds, which breaks the quickest pin record in school history regardless of weight classes. The previous record was six seconds by Alan Curtis vs. Muskingum (Ohio) College during the 1997-98 season. The previous 285-pound heavyweight pin record was 27 seconds by Bob Fowler during the 2001-02 season. King also pinned Jonah Schlegel in 58 seconds.
- Junior Dylan Briggs had a 2-0 record, winning by major decision in both matches – 16-7 over Derek Spears and 8-0 over Kerington Martin.
- Junior Liam Kinjorski won twice by fall – 2:31 over Shamique Bryant and 4:43 over Sean Rankin.
- Senior Trevor Piggott recorded two first-period pins – 1:52 over Geraldo Moya and 2:38 over Mason Morris.

- Also winning one match were freshman Justin Carnahan (15-0), senior Cameron Mahlich (pin-4:54), freshman Dylan Phelps (10-4), freshman Amir Rashed (9-6) and junior Reese Wallis (13-1).
- "We improved a lot from our first match against Central Michigan. Many guys are managing their weight with more energy, and we made some improvements on the bottom. Also, I was excited to see the men pushing for bonus points. Thirteen of our 16 wins on the day were bonus wins. We want to continue to cultivate that mentality."
- The Comets are scheduled to host the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Individual Championships Saturday, January 30. Action will get under way at 12 p.m., and no fans will be allowed to attend. Fans will be able to follow the matches on trackwrestling.com. Each of the four MIAA schools will be allowed to enter two wrestlers at each weight class, with the winners in each earning All-MIAA honors.
