Wrestling: Allen tabbed Academic All-District VI
Olivet College senior Nick Allen has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District VI Men’s at-large team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Nick Allen has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District VI Men's at-large team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America. He now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in early June.
Allen will graduate on Saturday with a 3.87 grade point average. He majored in criminal justice and had a sociology/anthropology minor. A captain on the wrestling team in 2014-15, Allen posted a 27-12 record at 174 pounds and placed third at the NCAA DIII Midwest Regional to advance to the NCAA DIII National Championships. Of his 12 losses, two were to NCAA DI wrestlers and five others to nationally-ranked DIII wrestlers, including three to the DIII national champion. Allen finished his four-year career in a Comet singlet with 92 wins.
Off the wrestling mat, Allen was a member of Alpha Psi Omega (criminal justice honor society). He also did community service projects with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and Relay for Life. Allen was also selected as the senior of the year for the criminal justice department.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America® honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
The at-large teams recognize student-athletes participating in the following sports – women's bowling, women's crew/rowing, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, and men's wrestling.
