OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team came up short in a 22-4 final against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Saint Mary's (Ind.) College on a rainy night at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The start of the game was delayed for 65 minutes due to lightning. The Belles raced out to 5-0 lead.
- The Comets got on the scoreboard for the first time with 23:29 left in the opening half when sophomore Cayla Wierenga netted a goal.
- Saint Mary's responded with eight straight goals to take a 13-1 lead.
- Junior Sabrina Butler found the back of the cage to make the score at the 10:29 mark.
- The Belles scored the next three goals. With 28 seconds left in the first half, the game was stopped due to lightning and resumed 50 minutes later. The score stayed 16-2 at halftime. Because of the delay, the teams quickly changed sides, resulting in no halftime break.
- The teams traded the first four goals of the second half. Senior Katie Ordiway scored her first goal of the season off a feed from Butler, and Butler netted her second goal of the game.
- Saint Mary's put the last four goals of the game on the scoreboard to create the final 22-4 score.
FOR THE COMETS
- Butler led Olivet with two goals, three shots, three ground balls and five draw controls.
- Senior goalkeeper Keri Hettinger had 15 saves.
FOR THE BELLES
- Kate Kelly topped Saint Mary's with six points on four goals and two assists, and six draw controls.
- Erin Doyle also had four goals to go along with an assist for five points.
- Liv Heppeler finished with three goals.
- Kendra Osinski was the winning keeper.

- Olivet travels to play Wilmington (Ohio) College in a rescheduled game Sunday, April 8, at 2 p.m.
