Women’s lacrosse team loses 18-1 to Alma

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team fell to Alma College, 18-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Scots raced out to 5-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the game.
• The Comets scored their only goal with 21:16 left in the opening half when junior Krystin Verran found the back of the cage.
• Alma responded with nine straight goals to take a 14-1 halftime lead.
• The Scots tallied four goals in the second half.

FOR THE COMETS

• In addition to her goal, Verran had a team-leading three shots and three ground balls.
• Junior Katie Ordiway notched a team-best three draw controls.
• In goal, junior Keri Hettinger made six saves.

FOR THE SCOTS

• Darby Kahler recorded a team-best four goals.
• Brianna Soriano had five points on three goals and two assists to go along with 10 ground balls.
• Katie Rogers tallied three goals.
• Kilee DeBrabander and Shelby Frazier each scored twice.
• Allie Ray earned the win in goal, while making four saves.

UP NEXT

• Olivet now prepares for three games in five days next week. The first is Tuesday afternoon when it travels to play Adrian College at 4 p.m. The Comets then play at Calvin College Thursday before hosting Kalamazoo College on Saturday.
