NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 21-2 loss to Saint Mary's (Ind.) College tonight at the Purcell Athletic Field in Notre Dame, Indiana.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Belles scored the first 12 goals, including 10 in the first eight minutes and 35 seconds.
- Junior Krystin Verran netted the Comets' only goal on a free-position attempt with 1:55 left before halftime.
- The teams alternated goals to start the second half, with Verran scoring a free-position goal for Olivet.
- Saint Mary's scored eight unanswered goals to end the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Verran had five of Olivet's six shots. She also scooped-up a team-best five ground balls.
- Junior Katie Ordiway recorded a team-best two draw controls.
- Junior Keri Hettinger faced 40 shots in goal and made 10 saves.
FOR THE BELLES
- Clare Theisen scored six points (four goals and two assists), while winning a game-best nine draw controls.
- Rachael Leonard also had six points on two goals and a team-best four assists.
- Molly Stout netted four goals.
- Emilie Vanneste finished with three goals and two assists.
- Hanna Malkowski and Kendra Osinksi each tallied three goals.
- Cara Givens played all 60 minutes in goal and collected four saves.

- Olivet hosts Alma College Saturday at 3 p.m. for the second game of a lacrosse doubleheader at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. Preceding the women's game, the Comet men play Calvin College at noon.
