DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-2 season-opening loss to University of Dubuque today at Oyen Field in Dubuque, Iowa.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Duhawks scored the first goal of the game before junior Krystin Verran netted the Comets' first goal with 14:18 remaining in the opening half.
- Dubuque added another 5-0 run to take a 10-1 halftime lead.
- Verran netted the first goal of the second half to make the score 10-2.
- The Duhawks put the final four points on the scoreboard.
FOR THE COMETS
- Verran led Olivet with two goals, four shots, seven ground balls and three draw controls.
- Junior Keri Hettinger played all 60 minutes in goal and had three saves.
FOR THE SPARTANS
- Breann Tjaarda had a team-leading five points (four goals and one assist).
- Claire Carlson and Robyn Wittkopf tallied four points apiece (three goals and one assist).
- Alora Esparza and Ashlyn Ptasienski each scored twice.
- Kaley Weir earned the win in the cage.
