OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team fell to University of Mount Union (Ohio), 20-2, on a windy afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Purple Raiders led 13-0 at halftime. Sophomore Geri Merrell (Battle Creek/Lakeview) scored the Comets' two goals at the start of the second half. Her first was an unassisted tally at the 28:25 and the second was a free-position goal five minutes later.
Olivet finished the contest with 11 shots, including four for Merrell. Freshman Ana Gomez (Rochester Hills/Notre Dame Prep) won three draw controls. In goal, sophomore Sarah Shaw (Grand Haven) collected nine saves on 43 Mount Union shots.
The Comets travel to play Aquinas College next Tuesday, April 9, at 5 p.m., and then resume their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule Wednesday night when they host Alma College at 7 p.m.
