Women’s lacrosse team loses at Aquinas, 28-3
The women’s lacrosse team dropped a 28-3 decision to Aquinas tonight in Grand Rapids.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team dropped a 28-3 decision to Aquinas College Monday night in Grand Rapids.
Junior Cortney Wernette (Remus/Chippewa Hills) scored two goals on three shot attempts for the Comets. Senior Veronica Maidens (Arcadia/Onekama) had the third goal. Freshman Alyssa Meny (Marshall) recorded one assist. As a team, Olivet controlled 23 ground balls.
"We played very hard but the combination of no substitutes left us with players playing out of position and tired," said Olivet Co-Head Coach Brian Jacob. "The effort cannot be faulted. Although the score was not close and never got a break, the players ran the field every bit as hard as Aquinas. We will learn from these games and be stronger from them."
The Comets go in search of a win Wednesday night when they host Davenport University at the Cutler Athletic Complex at 7 p.m. Earlier this season, Olivet won on the Panthers' home field, 12-10.
