OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team fell to Indiana Tech, 22-2, this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Warriors scored the first seven goals of the game. Olivet got on the scoreboard at the 16:08 mark when senior Veronica Maidens (Arcadia/Onekama) found the back of the net. Indiana Tech went on to score six more goals to take a 13-1 halftime lead. The Warriors added to their lead with six goals in the first five minutes, 11 seconds of the second half and a seventh at the 7:47 mark. The Comets scored their second tally on a free-position goal by freshman Alyssa Meny (Marshall) with 5:10 left in the game. Indiana Tech capped the scoring with the final two goals of the contest.
Olivet finished the game with 13 shots, including five for Maidens and four for Meny. Freshman Sara Wegener (Lansing/ Lansing Catholic) and sophomore Kate Cole (Union City) split time in goal. Wegener played the first half, facing 27 shots and making seven saves. Cole was the keeper in the second half, and she made three saves while facing 13 shots.
The Comets are scheduled to host Aquinas College Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m.
