Honsowitz and LaMothe named WGCA Scholar All-Americans
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Rylee Honsowitz and Ella LaMothe from The University of Olivet women's golf team have been named to the 2023-24 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Scholar All-American list. They are among the 1,497 women's golfers from 412 schools to be recognized with this prestigious honor.
The criteria for selection is:
- Have an overall 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average.
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
Honsowitz, a rising senior and insurance and risk management major, is earning this honor for the third consecutive year. She averaged a team-low 85.8 strokes over 16 rounds during the 2023-24 season. Honsowitz's low score was an 80 at the Cleary University Cougar Fall Classic on October 16, 2023, at the Oak Pointe Country Club in Brighton. The performance helped her win medalist honors. Entering the start of her senior season, Honosowitz has posted an 88.2 career stroke average.
LaMothe, a rising junior and environmental science major, is on the Scholar All-American list for a second straight year. This season, she played in all 17 rounds and had an 87.4 stroke average. LaMothe's low round was an 82 in the second round of the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic. In addition, she recorded an 83 at the Monmouth (Ill.) College Fighting Scot Spring Invitational to win medalist honors. LaMothe has an 88.8 stroke average over 38 career rounds.
