Women’s golfer trio named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A trio of Olivet College women’s golfers – Rylee Honsowitz, Ella LaMothe and Kiersen McDonough – have been selected to the 2022-23 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. Olivet’s three selections are among the 1,401 women’s golfers from 378 programs across all NCAA divisions to be recognized with this prestigious honor.
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A trio of Olivet College women's golfers – Rylee Honsowitz, Ella LaMothe and Kiersen McDonough – have been selected to the 2022-23 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. Olivet's three selections are among the 1,401 women's golfers from 378 programs across all NCAA divisions to be recognized with this prestigious honor.
The criterion for selection is:
- Have an overall 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average.
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
Honsowitz is a WGCA Scholar All-American for the second straight year. During the 2022-23 season, she played in 20 rounds and posted an 89.9 stroke average. Honsowitz's best round was an 81 on September 17, 2022, in the first round of the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic at the Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, Illinois. The 81 was also a career-best, 18-hole score for Honsowitz. She currently has an 89.3 stroke average in 38 rounds for the Comets.
LaMothe makes her debut on the Scholar All-American list. In her first season at Olivet, she recorded a 90.0 stroke average over 21 rounds. She shot a season-best 83 on September 21, 2022, at the Tecumseh Country Club and March 18, 2023, at the Oleander Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
McDonough ends her collegiate golf career as a three-time WGCA Scholar All-American. In 2002-23, she played 18 rounds and averaged 93.9 strokes. McDonough's low round was the last round of her career on April 23, 2023, at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Indiana. For her career at Olivet, she had a 98.8 stroke average over 43 rounds
