Women’s golf team takes eighth at MIAA Jamboree #1

GRANGER, Ind. – The Olivet College women's golf team began the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) portion of its schedule with an eighth-place performance at the first jamboree, hosted by Saint Mary's (Ind.) College and played at the Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana.

• The Comets finished the round with a 370 team score.
• The host Belles posted a 325 team score to beat runner-up Adrian College by seven strokes.
• Morgan Yates from Alma College was the individual medalist with a two-over par 74.

• Junior Rayna Honsowitz and freshman Ella LaMothe shot matching 92s. Honsowitz had a 47 on the front nine and 45 on the back nine. Her back nine included a birdie on the par 5, 440-yard No. 13. LaMothe had a 45 on the front nine and 47 on the back nine. Her front nine included a birdie on the par 4, 344-yard No. 7.
• Sophomore Rylee Honsowitz and junior Jenna Otten were a stroke behind with 93s. Honsowitz shot a 43 on the front nine and 50 on the back nine. On the front nine, she had a birdie on the par 5, 492-yard No. 1 and par 5, 488-yard No. 5. Otten also shot a 43 on the front nine and 50 on the back nine.
• Senior Kiersen McDonough carded a 94 (48-46).

• The Comets participate in the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic Saturday and Sunday at the Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, Illinois.
