Women’s golf team defeats Calvin in match play event

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team defeated Calvin University, 4 to 3, today in a match play event at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.

The Comets beat Knights in four of the seven head-to-head match plays. Freshman Rayna Honsowitz won 2&1, junior Logan McLane won 3&1, sophomore Kiersen McDonough won 4&3, and sophomore Aynslee Myer won 7&6.

• Rayna Honsowitz (Olivet) defeated Kaylee Hirschman (Calvin), 2&1.
• Logan McLane (Olivet) defeated Jericha Scharphorn (Calvin), 3&1.
• Amanda Scholten (Calvin) defeated. Rachel Webb (Olivet), 6&5.
• Aynslee Myer (Olivet) defeated McKenna Smith (Calvin), 7&6.
• Brandi Statema (Calvin) defeated Jenna Otten (Olivet), 5&4.
• Kiersen McDonough (Olivet) defeated Katherine Lamer (Calvin), 4&3.

Olivet will resume its schedule in the spring. As of today, the schedule includes eight rounds at eight different home courses for Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools. The first is Saturday, March 27, at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
