Women’s golf team places third at MIAA Fall-Finale Tournament
The Olivet College women’s golf team placed third at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall-Finale Tournament, held at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. With the finish, the Comets also finish third in the final overall MIAA standings.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's golf team placed third at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall-Finale Tournament, held at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. With the finish, the Comets also finish third in the final overall MIAA standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Olivet totaled 662 (323-339) strokes over the two rounds. Hope College won the tournament title with a 619 (299-320), and Saint Mary's (Ind.) College was second at 643 (327-316). Alma College placed fourth at 672 (337-335), followed by Trine (Ind.) University, 679 (329-350); Adrian College, 697 (341-356); Calvin College, 714 (363-351); and Albion College, 731 (357-374).
- Megan Klintworth was the medalist with a 151 (74-77).
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Nicole Deweyert shot back-to-back 81s for a two-day score of 162 strokes and tie for sixth-place in the player standings.
- Freshman Ashley Folleth was a stroke behind at 163 (77-86) to share ninth-place in the player standings.
- Senior Laura Bacso completed her two rounds in 166 (81-85) strokes.
- Sophomore Hayley Cooper was next at 171 (84-87).
- Freshman Molly Morey carded a 179 (89-90).
ALL-MIAA HONORS
- Bacso earned first-team All-MIAA honors after averaging 79.7 strokes over the six league rounds. She is now a three-time all-conference selection – second-team in 2014 and first-team in 2015 and 2016.
- Deweyert and Folleth were named to the All-MIAA second-team. Deweyert posted an 82.3 average, while Folleth averaged 83.5 strokes.
