The Olivet College women’s golf team took first-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff Round #3 today at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
The Olivet College women's golf team took first-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff Round #3 today at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. Despite the finish, Olivet comes up just short in its bid for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA National Championships next month. The Comets will now have to wait until May 3 to find out if they will receive an at-large bid.
The Comets posted a 328 team score to beat Hope by nine strokes. The host Belles were third at 348, followed by Trine (355) and Albion (390).
Olivet sophomore Lauren Campbell (Fenton) earned medalist honors with a 77. Junior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) carded an 82 for a third-place finish. Senior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) was part of a four-way tie for fifth with an 84. Junior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) tied for ninth at 85.
Saint Mary's earns the automatic bid with a three-round total of 992 strokes. The Comets were eight strokes behind at 1,000.
