Three women’s golfers earn NGCA honors
Three Olivet College women's golfers -- sophomore Lauren Campbell (Fenton), junior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and senior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) were named to the 2009-10 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Great Lakes Region Team. In addition, Rimmel earned honorable mention NGCA All-American honors.
Three Olivet College women's golfers -- sophomore Lauren Campbell (Fenton), junior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and senior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) were named to the 2009-10 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Great Lakes Region Team. In addition, Rimmel earned honorable mention NGCA All-American honors. They were presented with these awards at the NGCA Awards Banquet at the NCAA Division III National Championships last week.
This spring, Campbell led Olivet with an 80.6 stroke average, and her low round was a 75. During the fall season, she had an 82.9 average. Conrad posted 83.5 and 81.2 averages this spring and fall, respectively. Her best round of the year was a 74. Rimmel had a 78.8 and 84.3 average in the fall and spring, respectively, and her low of the year was also a 75. Conrad and Rimmel are two-time All-Great Lakes Region honorees, as both also earned the honor in 2008-09.
This trio helped the Comets make their fourth straight trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships May 11-14 at the Mission Inn Resort and El Campeon Golf Course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., where they finished in 11th-place. In addition, each earned 2009 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors. Conrad and Rimmel were first-team selections for the third consecutive year, while Campbell was a second-team selection for the second straight year.
