Women’s golf team extends lead in MIAA standings
The Olivet College women’s golf team extended its lead in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) seasonal standings with a first-place finish today at the league’s fourth jamboree at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.

The Comets set a MIAA course record with a 337 team score. Hope College was third with a 347, followed by Saint Mary's in third (349), Albion in fourth (362), Alma in fifth (371), Kalamazoo in sixth (372), Trine in seventh (373), Adrian in eighth (398) and Calvin in ninth (411).
In the player standings, sophomore Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and senior Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) tied for second-place with an 82. Saint Mary's Rosie O'Connor was the medalist with an 81.
Junior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) shot an 86 to tie for fifth-place. Junior Katie Misko (Alma) was part of a three-way tie for eighth-place with an 87. Freshman Lauren Campbell (Fenton) was one stroke behind Misko with an 88.
Senior Trisha McKim (DeWitt) played as an individual and fired an 82. Sophomore Abby Wheeler (Grayling) was also an individual and had a 93.
With the final two league rounds remaining next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek, Olivet leads the seasonal standings by 52 strokes with a 1,296. The battle is for second-place, as Hope leads Saint Mary's by one stroke, 1,348-1,349. The rest of the top five is Albion in fourth (1,444) and Trine in fifth (1,456).
