Women's golf team places second at MIAA Playoff Round #2
The Olivet College women’s golf team placed second out of seven schools at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff Round #2. Olivet hosted the playoff at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.

The Comets carded a 333 team score to finish one stroke behind Saint Mary's (Ind.) College. With their first-place finish, the Belles increase their lead in the playoff standings to 14 strokes entering tomorrow's third and final round with the winner receiving the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships May 13-16 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Following Olivet and Saint Mary's in today's round was Hope at 354; Trine at 367; Albion at 378; Kalamazoo at 406; and Adrian at 476. Olivet's Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) along with Hope's Andrea McCarty and Saint Mary's Mary Kate Boyce all shot an 80 to share medalist honors.
After Conrad and Pipkin for the Comets was junior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) with an 84 to tie for seventh-place in the player standings. Junior Katie Misko (Alma) was 14th in the player standings with an 89. Freshman Lauren Campbell (Fenton) was a part of a three-way tie for 15th-place with a 90. One of those who she tied was sophomore Abby Wheeler (Grayling), who was playing as an individual scorer.
Tomorrow's round gets under way with a 9 a.m. shotgun start and will also be played at The Medalist.
