Women’s golf team finishes in second-place at MIAA Playoff Round #1
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in second-place in the first of three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff rounds. The school with the lowest score after the three rounds will receive the MIAA’s automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Comets, No. 8 in the latest golfstat.com rankings, posted a 338 team score to finish 13 strokes behind the host Belles. The rest of the team scores were Hope College, 353; Trine (Ind.) University, 364; Albion College, 393; and Adrian College, 455.
Sophomore Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) paced Olivet and tied for second in the player standings with an 80. Sophomore Lauren Campbell (Fenton) was fifth with an 84. Senior Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) had an 85, followed by juniors Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) and Katie Misko (Alma) at 89 and 91, respectively.
Sophomore Abby Wheeler (Grayling) and senior Trisha McKim (DeWitt) were individual scorers. Wheeler shot an 89, while McKim was three strokes behind her at 92.
As the 2008 MIAA champions, Olivet will host the final two rounds on its home course, The Medalist Golf Course. Those rounds will take play April 24 and 25.
