Field announced for the 2009 NCAA Division III Golf Championships
The NCAA has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2009 NCAA Division III National Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships. The Olivet men received one of the 27 automatic bids virtue of winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship last fall. The Olivet women received one of 10 at-large berths.

The Olivet men received one of the 27 automatic bids virtue of winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship last fall. The Olivet women received one of 10 at-large berths.
Both the men's and women's national championships will take place May 13-16 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The championships are being hosted by Methodist University.
The Olivet men are 16th in the most recent golfstat.com NCAA Division III Head-to-Head rankings and 22nd in the Golf World/Nike Division III Coaches' Poll. They will be represented by seniors Brock Gleadall of Stratford, Ontario; Justin Lesansky of LaSalle, Ontario; and Eric Ross of Burlington, Ontario; junior Luke Godin of Barrie, Ontario; and sophomore Nick Harless of DeWitt. The Comets are returning to the national championships as a team for the first time since 2000. Over the last eight years, Olivet has had two individuals selected to participate.
The Olivet women are No. 8 in the golfstat.com NCAA Division III Head-to-Head rankings and No. 9 in the Golf World Division III Coaches' Poll. Representing them at the national championships will be seniors Katie Misko of Alma and Lindsay Pipkin of White Lake, junior Megan Rimmel of Ithaca, sophomore Amber Conrad of Battle Creek and freshman Lauren Campbell of Fenton. The Comets, who won the 2008 MIAA championship, are making their third consecutive trip to the national championships. In 2007, they placed ninth and last year, they finished in 11th-place.
