Women’s golf team wins third MIAA jamboree by 21 strokes, extends overall MIAA lead to 41 strokes
The Olivet College women’s golf team won the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree today at Bucks Run Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant. The Comets continue to lead the MIAA seasonal standings.
The Olivet College women's golf team won the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree today at Bucks Run Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant. The Comets continue to lead the MIAA seasonal standings, as the final two league rounds will be played next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
Olivet posted a 324 team score to finish 21 strokes ahead of Hope College. Tri-State (Ind.) University was third at 349, followed by Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 351. In the seasonal standings, Olivet has totaled 988 strokes. Saint Mary's is second at 1,029.
Freshman Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) led the Comets with a three-over par 76. Sophomore Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) was next at 81. Senior Amanda Sanders (Concord) had an 83, followed by juniors Trisha McKim (DeWitt) and Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) each with an 84.
Senior Jen Lambarth (Saline) and sophomore Katie Misko (Alma) were individual scorers, and returned to the clubhouse with an 83 and 92, respectively.
The Comets will return to the links this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29-30, when it participates in the Millikin University Invitational at the Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, Ill. Action begins each day with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
