Olivet College women’s golf team wins 2007 MIAA Championship
The Olivet College women’s golf team has captured the 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship. The Comets put the finishing touches on their second straight league championship by taking first-place at the two-day championship round.

In addition, Olivet placed five golfers on the 2007 All-MIAA teams. Freshman Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek), junior Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland), sophomore Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) and senior Amanda Sanders (Concord) earned first-team All-MIAA honors, while junior Trisha McKim (DeWitt) earned second-team All-MIAA honors.
In this weekend's championship rounds, the Comets had 665 (341-324) strokes to finish 12 strokes ahead of Tri-State. Overall, all seven Olivet golfers were among the top 13 in the player standings. Pipkin led the way, earning medalist honors with a 163 (84-79). Sanders was second in the player standings with a 164 (86-78). Conrad tied for sixth-place with a 169 (84-85). McKim and Rimmel each had a 171.
Senior Jen Lambarth (Saline) and sophomore Katie Misko (Alma) competed as individual scoers. Lambarth needed 171 strokes to complete her two rounds, while Misko was one stroke behind with a 172.
In the overall league standings, Olivet totaled 1,653 strokes (330.6 average over five rounds). Tri-State was second at 1,711, followed by Saint Mary's, 1,726; Hope, 1,742; Alma, 1,858; Calvin, 1,888; Adrian, 1,903; Albion, 1,904; and Kalamazoo, 1,975.
The Comets will now be idle until their spring season, which will include a three-round MIAA playoff where the winner will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Division III National Championships.
