Women’s golf team finishes in fourth-place at 2008 IWU Spring Fling
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in fourth-place at the 2008 Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling, which is being played at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill. Individually, senior Amanda Sanders (Concord) posted a two-day total of 151 strokes to earn tournament medalist honors.

After recording a 322 team in Saturday's first round, the Comets had a 330 today for a two-round total of 652, which was only one stroke behind third-place William Woods (Ill.) University. The host Titans edged DePauw (Ind.) University by one stroke, 638-639, for the team championship.
Sanders needed 76 strokes to complete Saturday's round and 75 strokes to complete today's round. She tied Ohio Northern University's Meagan Brennan for first-place, but a scorecard playoff gave her tournament medalist honors. Junior Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) was next for Olivet with a two-round total of 166 strokes (80-86). Junior Trisha McKim (DeWitt) and sophomore Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) each posted a 169. McKim had an 86 in the first round and 83 in the second round, while Rimmel had the reverse, an 83 in the first round and 86 in the second round. Freshman Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) rounded out the Comet starting lineup with a 170 (83-87).
Olivet is back in action this Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, when it hosts the final two rounds of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. Entering Friday's round, the Comets have an 18 stroke lead with the league leader after Saturday's third round will represent the MIAA at the 2008 NCAA Division III National Championships.
