UOlivet suffers 70-58 loss to Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Olivet women's basketball team was on the losing end of a 70-58 final score to Loras College on day two of the Paxton Classic, hosted by University of Dubuque at the Stoltz Sports Center. For her efforts, senior Lily Connelly was named to the All-Classic Team.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Loras 70, Olivet 58

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first eight minutes of the game were close, with five lead changes. Following a 9-9 tie, the Duhawks scored six straight points for a 15-9 lead. Olivet cut its deficit in half before Loras made its fifth three-pointer of the quarter at the buzzer to push its lead back to six points, 18-12.
- The Duhawks began the second quarter with two triples to double their advantage, 24-12. The Comets battled back to trail by only five points, 33-28, at halftime.
- Olivet began the third quarter with a 12-7 run to even the score at 40-40. Loras scored the last 10 points of the quarter for a 10-point lead, 50-40, to start the final quarter of the contest.
- The Duhawks extended their advantage to as many as 14 points, 56-42, early in the fourth quarter. Olivet was never able to get its deficit down to single digits.
- For the game, the Comets made 21-of-52 baskets (40.4 percent), with three from behind the three-point arc. Loras drained 25-of-63 field goals (39.7 percent), with 12 three-pointers. Olivet had five more free throws, 13 to 8.
FOR THE COMETS
- Connelly recorded team-highs in points (13), rebounds (eight), assists (six) and steals (four).
- Sophomore Kaylee Bush added 12 points for the only other double figure scorer.
- Junior Kinsley Hatfield and sophomore Christina Malackanich grabbed six rebounds apiece.

- The Comets resume their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule Saturday when they host Kalamazoo College. Tip-off from the Cutler Event Center is 1 p.m.
