UOlivet comes from behind to beat Kenyon, 53-47

GAMBIER, Ohio – The University of Olivet women's basketball team rallied from a double digit halftime deficit to beat Kenyon (Ohio) College, 53-47, in a non-conference contest today inside Tomsich Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets started the game by scoring the first five points on two free throws and a three-pointer by sophomore Kaylee Bush. The Owls answered with 11 straight points before settling for a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- To start the second quarter, the teams traded 5-0 runs to keep the difference at seven points, 21-14. Kenyon closed the quarter with a 6-0 run to take a 27-14 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
- The Comets outscored the Owls, 16-10, in the third quarter to trim their deficit down to seven points, 37-30, to begin the fourth quarter. Olivet chipped away at the Kenyon lead and eventually took a 43-42 lead. The Comets pushed their lead to six points, 48-42. Senior Lily Connelly made five free throws to seal Olivet's win.
FOR THE COMETS
- Bush led all scorers with 20 points.
- Connelly added 12 points to go along with five assists and three steals.
- Sophomore Christina Malackanich pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds.
- Senior Clara Shoales filled the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, two blocks and three steals.

- The Comets are off until Sunday and Monday, December 29-30, when they participate in the Paxson Classic, hosted by University of Dubuque (Iowa). Olivet faces the host Spartans on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. ET, and Loras (Iowa) College on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET
