GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Calvin University, 89-37, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest today at the Van Noord Arena.

- After the Knights scored the first four points of the game, the Comets answered with five straight points. Calvin took the lead back before a three-point play by sophomore Courtney Balazs put Olivet ahead by two points, 8-6. A Knight three-pointer and Comet free throw evened the score at 9-9 with 5:23 left in the first quarter. Calvin went on an 8-0 run over the next two and one-half minutes to take a 17-9 lead. The teams traded baskets to create a 21-13 score at the end of the first period.
- The Knights outscored the Comets, 30-5, in the second quarter to take control of the game.
- Balazs, freshman Kinsley Hatfield and senior Rachel Swartz each scored six points.
- Swartz and junior Lily Connelly grabbed five rebounds apiece.
- Senior Julia Decker dished out four assists.
- Sydney Cleary led all players with 16 points and eight rebounds.
- Leah Harris added 14 points.
- The Comets host Saint Mary's (Ind.) College next Wednesday, February 8, for the first game of a basketball doubleheader, starting at 6 p.m.
