OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team suffered a 58-48 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Calvin University today at the Cutler Event Center.

- In the first quarter, the Knights led by as many as 13 points on two occasions. After the last time at 20-7, Olivet scored the last three points of the quarter to trail 20-10 to start the second quarter.
- The Comets' run continued into the second period. Olivet outscored Calvin 12-2 in the first six minutes and 35 seconds to come back and level the score at 22-22. An 11-2 Knight run put them ahead 33-24 but a three-pointer by freshman Kinsley Hatfield right before the buzzer made the score 33-27 at halftime.
- Calvin stretched its lead to 12 points, 39-27, in the first three minutes of the third quarter. The Comets scored eight straight points over a two minute and eight second stretch to close the gap to four points. The Knights put the final four points on the scoreboard in the third stanza to increase their lead to eight points, 43-35.
- In the fourth period, Calvin extended its advantage to 15 points, 50-35, with 5:49 left. Olivet did not go down without a fight, as an old-fashioned three-point play for junior Lily Connelly cut the Knight lead to single digits, 52-44. The Comets closed the margin to eight points two more times in the final 30 seconds but would not get any closer.
- For the game, Calvin made three more baskets and four more free throws for the 10-point margin of victory. The Knights had a +9 margin in rebounding and turned the ball over four less times.
- Connelly matched her season-high with 19 points. She also had six assists, seven rebounds and six steals.
- Freshman Megan Mauney was next with nine points, followed by senior Julia Decker with seven.
- Junior Zoee Zatarga grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
- Gabby Timmer posted a double-double, 21 points and 11 rebounds, to top all players.
- Sara Nealy scored 12 points.
- Olivet plays a 3 p.m. game next Tuesday, December 20, at Great Lakes Christian College.
