Swartz breaks single-season blocks record, women’s basketball team upended by Calvin
OLIVET, Mich. – Junior Rachel Swartz broke the single-season blocks record but the Olivet College women’s basketball team was upended by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Calvin University, 71-36, this afternoon at the Cutler Event Center.

OLIVET, Mich. – Junior Rachel Swartz broke the single-season blocks record but the Olivet College women's basketball team was upended by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Calvin University, 71-36, this afternoon at the Cutler Event Center.

- The Knights scored the first eight points of the game. Calvin extended its lead to 11 points twice. After the last time at 15-4 with 4:52 left in the opening quarter, the Comets scored six of the final eight points of the quarter to trail by nine points, 19-10, to start the second quarter.
- The Knights went on to lead 36-17 at halftime and 54-26 at the end of the third quarter.
- Sophomore Zoee Zatarga posted a team-best eight points and seven rebounds.
- Swartz had seven points and six rebounds. She also blocked three shots to break the single-season school record. She now has 50 blocks to break Stefanie Lang's previous record of 49 during the 2014-15 season.
- Senior Alicia Bullaro also scored seven points.
- Gabby Timmer led the Knights with 18 points, six rebounds and five blocks.
- Stephanie Coors contributed 14 points.
- Leah Harris added 13 points.
- The Comets travel to play Saint Mary's (Ind.) College next Wednesday, February 9. Tip-off at the Angela Athletic Center is 7 p.m.
