Women’s basketball team rallies to beat Kalamazoo, 66-60
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s basketball team rallied from a 14-point deficit in the third quarter to beat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Kalamazoo College, 66-60, this evening at the Anderson Athletic Center.

- The Comets led by five points, 8-3, two minutes and 31 seconds into the game. Kalamazoo responded with an 8-2 run to take its first lead. A three-pointer by freshman Savannah Pavoni put the Comets ahead. The teams traded points for the rest of the quarter, resulting in a pair of tied scores at 13-13 and 15-15. A Hornet basket made the 17-15 to start the second period.
- In the second quarter, Kalamazoo outscored Olivet 17-8 to take a 34-23 halftime lead. The Hornets stretched their advantage to 14 points three times in the third quarter. After the third time 43-29 around the midpoint of the quarter, the Comets used a 12-2 run to close the gap to four points until a Kalamazoo made the score 47-41 to start the fourth quarter.
- The Hornets pushed their lead back to double digits, 58-48, at the 4:35 mark of the final quarter. Olivet answered with a 12-2 spurt to tie the game at 60-60 with 2:51 left. During the run, the Comets made all four of their shots from behind the arc. Senior Sydnee Dennis had three of the four triples, and junior Alicia Bullaro had the other.
- Olivet took a 63-60 lead when Bullaro drained a three-pointer at the 1:13 mark. Senior Logan Kyre sealed the Comets' win by making a pair of free throws with 17 seconds showing on the clock. The final point for Olivet came when senior DeeDee Post split a pair of throws.
- For the game, Olivet shot 29.4 percent (20-of-68) compared to 27.7 percent (18-of-65) for the Hornets. The Comets drained one more three-pointer (11 to 10) and one more free throw (15 to 14).
- Bullaro led all players with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three-point territory.
- Senior Kim Buie and freshman Kaycee Shannon each had nine points.
- Senior Fayth Talbert grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.
- Isabelle Clark topped the Hornets with 16 points.
- Juanita Ledesma tallied 12 points.
- Jayla Gill added 10 points.
- Christiana Hunt pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
- The Comets travel to play Trine (Ind.) University Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
