OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 113-53 loss to Hope College this evening at the Cutler Event Center.

- The teams traded baskets to start the game, resulting in 2-2 and 4-4 ties. The Flying Dutch, ranked No. 1 in the most recent D3hoops.com poll, then went on a 13-0 run to go up 17-4 at the 4:10 mark. Hope pushed its lead to 19 points before two free throws by freshman Kaycee Shannon made the score 30-13 at the end of the opening quarter. The Flying Dutch would lead by a 70-23 score at halftime and 94-39 to start the fourth quarter.
- Shannon led Olivet with 10 points.
- Sophomore Brianna Alexander finished with nine points.
- Sophomore Rachel Swartz and freshman Savannah Pavoni each netted eight points, with both making two three-pointers.
- Swartz grabbed a team-best six rebounds.
- Fourteen players saw action in the game. Twelve players scored, including half reaching double digits in points.
- Olivia Voskuil posted a double-double, 16 points and 11 rebounds.
- Sydney Muller contributed 15 points.
- Lauren Newman and Ella McKinney had 13 points apiece.
- Claire Baguley and Hannah Smith each tallied 12 points.
- The Comets are on the road Thursday night to play Kalamazoo College at 7 p.m.
