Women’s basketball team loses to Calvin 79-54 in season-opener
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s basketball team lost 79-54 to Calvin University in its season-opener today at the Cutler Event Center. It was the Comets’ first game since February 22, 2020, a span of 350 days.

- The Comets held a one-point lead, 4-3, at the 5:23 mark of the opening quarter. The Knights ended the quarter on a 14-3 run to lead by 10 points, 17-7.
- Olivet cut its deficit down to seven points, 22-15, at the 5:24 mark of the second quarter. Calvin extended its lead to as many as 16 points, 33-17. The Comets scored the final three points of the quarter to trail 33-20 at halftime.
- The third quarter saw Olivet out-score Calvin by two points, 20-18. The Knights doubled up the Comets, 28-14, in the fourth quarter.
- Sophomore Brianna Alexander led Olivet with 14 points.
- Senior DeeDee Post contributed 12 points.
- Senior Kim Buie grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
- Gabby Timmer led all players with 22 points and nine rebounds.
- Leah Harris finished with 13 points.

- Answer #2: "It felt awesome to finally a game. We have a young, new team. We were able to see how everyone plays."

- Answer #3: "The number one thing I did well was talk and try to lead the team in the right direction. I also brought some positive energy on and off the court."
- The Comets travel to play Alma College tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
