FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College senior Amari Brown has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for women's basketball. She is the first Olivet player to earn MIAA Player of the Week honors since Dallas Austin earned the honor on Jan. 18, 2016.

She scored a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds in Olivet's 61-59 win over previously undefeated Westminster (Pa.) College. Brown followed that performance with 10 points and five rebounds in a 76-53 victory over Cairn (Pa.) University. Over the two games, she made 11-of-25 baskets (44.0 percent), including three three-pointers and 3-of-4 free throws, and had five assists, three blocks and four steals. "This past weekend, we were able to pick-up two wins," said assistant coach Cassidy Williams. "It was total team effort but individually Amari Brown had a great weekend. She contributed not only on the offensive end but also on the defensive end. We are looking to use this momentum for upcoming conference games."
