Women’s basketball team comes up short against Calvin, 61-27
The Olivet College women’s basketball team came up short against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Calvin University, 61-27, this evening at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team came up short against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Calvin University, 61-27, this evening at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

- The Knights led by as many as 11 points, 13-2, with 2:15 left in the first quarter. The Comets scored the last four points of the quarter to trail by seven points, 13-6, at the start of the second period.
- Olivet put the first eight points on the scoreboard in the second quarter to take its first lead of the game, 14-13. Calvin did not score its first point of the second period until the 3:07 mark. In that stretch, Calvin missed nine shots and turned the ball over three times.
- The Knights tied the game with a free throw before a layup for the Comets put them up 16-14 with 2:44 remaining before halftime. Calvin ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 20-16 at the break.
- The Knights out-scored Olivet, 41-11, in the second half to pull out the 34-point win.
- With her 10 points and 12 rebounds, senior Jazmin Hildebrand posted her first double-double of the season and third of her career.
- Senior Amari Brown and freshman Hannah Brown finished with four points apiece.
- Gabby Timmer scored 13 points to lead Calvin.
- Stephanie Coors contributed 12 points.
- Kara Minderhoud grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
- The 20 points scored by Calvin in the first half is the third-fewest points Olivet has allowed an opponent score in one half since women's basketball started playing games in four quarters (start of the 2015-16) season.
- The seven points scored by Calvin in the second quarter is tied for the seventh-fewest points Olivet has given up in one quarter.
- The Comets are off until Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 28-29, when they play two games at the McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament. On Saturday, Olivet faces Westminster (Pa.) College, and on Sunday, it plays Cairn (Pa.) College. Both games tip-off at 12 p.m.
