GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team suffered a 70-55 defeat to Calvin College this afternoon at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets jumped out to a 6-2 lead behind a free throw by senior Katie McKinnon, and a jump shot and three-pointer by senior Jillian Nickels.
- The Knights countered with a trey before a pair of free throws by freshman Jazmin Hildebrand made the score 8-5 at the 6:37 mark.
- Calvin scored four straight points to go up 9-8.
- Hildebrand grabbed an offensive rebound and put the ball back into the basket to put Olivet back on top, 10-9.
- The Knights countered with a basket at the 4:56 mark.
- Hildebrand split a pair of tosses from the charity stripe to level the score at 11-11 with 3:46 left in the first period.
- Calvin out-scored Olivet 9-0 to end the quarter and make the score 20-11.
- The Comets scored four of the first six points in the second quarter to trail by seven points, 22-15.
- Olivet would not get any closer for the remainder of the half.
- The Knights twice stretched their lead to as many as 23 points until settling for a 40-19 advantage at the break.
- The closest the Comets would get in the second half would be 14 points, 68-54, with 37 seconds left in the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet shot 34.4 percent from the floor and 70.0 percent from the free throw line.
- Nickels led the way with 20 points and six rebounds.
- Hildebrand and junior Stephanie Cochran both came off the bench to score seven points apiece.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Ali Spayde scored a team-best 20 points.
- Anna Timmer posted a double-double with 17 points and game-best 16 rebounds.
- Bre Luurtsema also had a double-double with 11 assists and 15 rebounds.
- Becca Richards recorded 11 points off the bench.
