OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Calvin College 67-44 today at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
Junior Kaleigh Hill (Niles) came off the bench to lead the Comets with 10 points and eight rebounds. Junior Brittany Brown (Inkster/John Glenn) was next with eight points. Junior SoQuitta DeShazor (Flint/Hamady) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
The Knights were led by two-time MIAA Most Valuable Player Carissa Verkaik, who scored 20 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots in 16 minutes. Julia Hilbrands was next with 16 points.
Olivet will conclude its regular season next week. On Wednesday, the Comets host Alma College at 6 p.m., and on Saturday, they travel to play Albion College at 3 p.m.
