Women’s basketball team stung by Kalamazoo, 52-39
The Olivet College women’s basketball fell to Kalamazoo College 52-39 in a MIAA contest tonight at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball fell to Kalamazoo College 52-39 in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest tonight at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo.
In the first half, the Comets built a six-point lead, 10-4, at the 15:36 mark. The Hornets answered with an 8-2 run to knot the score at 12-12. Following three more tied scores at 15-15, 17-17 and 21-21, Kalamazoo scored the final four points of the half on four free throws to take a 25-21 lead at the break. The Hornets did not relinquish their lead for the rest of the game and led by as many as 20 points, 43-23, with 5:21 left in the second half.
Junior Kaleigh Hill (Niles) came off the bench to lead Olivet with nine points. Sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) was next with eight points. Juniors Mellissa Bageris (Milford) and Sydney Radde (Stevensville/Lakeshore) each contributed six points. Three Comets had five rebounds apiece.
For Kalamazoo, Nicole Antoine and Anne Colonius each scored 11 points. Antoine grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Olivet (1-6, 0-2 MIAA) is off until next Wednedsay, Dec. 14, when it hosts University of Chicago (Ill.) at 6 p.m.
