In the first half, Olivet led 11 points two times with the last time being 21-10 at the 3:19 mark. The Comets settled for a seven-point lead, 23-16, at halftime. Olivet built its lead in the second half to as many as 12 points, 47-35, with 6:42 left in the game. The Bulldogs got as close as one point, 50-49, with 25 seconds left. The Comets made 2-of-4 free throws to win the game, 52-49.
Sophomore Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) scored 12 points to lead Olivet. Senior Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) and junior Kaitlin Oleksyn (Kalamazoo/Parchment) each had 10 points. Federau and Yarrell grabbed seven rebounds apiece.
The Comets will play their next three games on their own home court, beginning next Wednesday, Jan. 13, against Alma College. Tip-off at The Cutler Event Center is 7:30 p.m.
