Olivet scored the first 10 points of the game for its largest lead of the half. The Britons battled back and forced an 18-18 deadlock with 10:34 left before halftime. From there, Albion outscored the Comets, 22-11, to take a 40-29 lead into the locker rooms. In the second half, the Britons stretched their lead to as many as 19 points, 51-32, at the 14:05 mark. A three-pointer in the final seconds of the game would be the closest Olivet would get.
Junior Stephanie Spehar (South Lyon) was the only Comet in double figures with 14 points. Senior Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) and junior Michelle Hein (Jackson/Napoleon) each scored eight. Sophomore Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
For Albion, the duo of Keigan Edwards and Melissa Shaw combined for 44 points, including 7-of-8 shooting from behind the arc and 15-of-21 from the charity stripe. Shaw led all scorers with 23, while Edwards had 21. Shaw also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
Olivet will celebrate Senior Night and "Think Pink Night" next Wednesday, Feb. 10, when it hosts Adrian College at 7:30 p.m.
