Women’s basketball team falls to Wilmington, 99-83, in first round of Wilmington Invitational
The Olivet College women’s basketball team fell to the host Quakers, 99-83, tonight in a first round game of the Wilmington College Invitational at the Fred Raizk Arena in Wilmington, Ohio. The Comets will play Bethany (W.Va.) College tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.

Wilmington scored the first seven points of the game. Olivet answered with a 10-2 run to take a 10-9 lead at the 15:26 mark. Neither team went on to lead by more than four points during the opening half. The Comets led 51-50 at halftime behind 21-of-37 (56.8%) shooting from the floor.
A 14-2 run in the first 4 ˝ minutes of the second half pushed the Quakers' lead to double digits. Olivet could not cut their deficit below 10 points for the rest of the game. The Comets made only 10-of-30 (33.3%) baskets.
Senior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview) led Olivet with 16 points. Senior Kenzie Steward (Alma) contributed 13 points, while seniors Stephanie Smith (Waldron/Camden Frontier) and Amanda Johnston (Mt. Morris/Genesse) chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Junior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) scored eight points, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and dished out six assists.
Kelly Peters paced Wilmington with 20 points, followed by Katie Streck with 18 points. Peters and Streck each grabbed nine rebounds.
Following tomorrow's game, the Comets will play Madonna University in their home-opener Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
