Women’s basketball team defeats Lake Erie (Ohio), 79-69, in consolation game of Nan Nichols Tournament
Four starters scored in double figures as the Olivet College women’s basketball team defeated Lake Erie College, 79-69, this afternoon in the consolation game of the College of Wooster Nan Nichols Tournament at the Timken Gymnasium in Wooster, Ohio. For her efforts, senior Stephanie Smith (Waldron/ Camden Frontier) was named to the all-tournament team.

Junior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) led the Comets (1-1) with a career-high 23 points. She made four-of-six field goals and was a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. Senior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/Lakeview) contributed 20 points, followed by Smith and junior Jaime Kowalczyk (Wyandotte/Roosevelt) with 12 and 10 points, respectively. As a team, Olivet made 24-of-59 field goals (40.7%) and 25-of-27 free throws (92.6%).
Smith grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Brackenwagen and Graham each dished out four assists.
Olivet is back in action next Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 25-26 when it plays at the Wilmington (Ohio) College Invitational. On Saturday, the Comets play the host Quakers at 6 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. Sunday against Bethany (W.Va.) College.
