The Olivet College women’s basketball team dropped a 67-55 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, today at Kresge Gymnasium in Albion.

In the first half, the Britons (4-4, 1-1 MIAA) led by as many as 10 points, 29-19, with 3:34 left. The Comets (4-4, 2-1 MIAA) went on a 6-0 run to cut their deficit to four points at the 2:30 mark. At halftime, Olivet trailed by six points, 35-29.
Albion extended its lead to 14 points in the first 3:20 of the second half. The closest the Comets would get for the rest of the game was seven points on four occasions.
Seniors Courtney Ivan (Belleville) and Stephanie Smith (Waldron/Camden Frontier) each scored 12 points to lead the Comets. Ivan also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for her second collegiate double-double. Junior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) contributed 11 points.
The Britons placed four starters in double figures. Megan Garvey led them with 18 points, including 11-of-13 shooting from the free throw line. Jessica Babcock chipped in with 16 points.
Olivet will now take a break for the holidays and return to action Friday, Dec. 29, when it hosts the College of Wooster (Ohio) at 3 p.m.
