Women’s basketball team loses to Albion, 80-74 in quarterfinals of 2007 MIAA Tournament
The Olivet College women’s basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 80-74 overtime loss to Albion College tonight in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament at Kresge Gymnasium in Albion. The Comets end their season with a 12-12 overall record.

In the first half, Olivet led by as many as nine points, 29-20, with 2:08 left. The Comets' biggest lead of the second half was eight points, 50-42, at the 6:48 mark. The Britons (15-10) forced overtime by scoring the last six points of regulation. In overtime, Albion scored the first three points and never looked back.
Senior Stephanie Smith (Waldron/Camden Frontier) led the Comets with a season-high 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor. She also tied her season-high with nine rebounds. Junior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) added 17 points and three assists. Senior Audrey Graham (Battle Creek/ Lakeview) scored 15 points.
Megan Garvey paced the Britons with 22 points, including 10-of-10 shooting from the free throw line. Jessica Babcock and Emi Guimond each scored 13 points, while Kati Till grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Albion advances to play at Calvin College Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
