Smith named to 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV
Olivet College senior Stephanie Smith (Waldron/Camden Frontier) has been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV women’s basketball first-team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College senior Stephanie Smith (Waldron/Camden Frontier) has been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV women's basketball first-team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America. She now advances to the national college division ballot. The District IV teams are selected by sports information directors in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
Smith carries a 4.0 grade point average in environmental science and biology. She has started every game for the Comets this season and is second on the team in scoring (11.4 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (4.0 rpg). Smith leads the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in three-pointers made (55). In addition, she is Olivet's all-time leader in three-pointers made (194) and attempted (566).
Off the basketball court, Smith is president of the Olivet and MIAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committees. She is also a member of Alpha Omega, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Earthbound.
Smith and the Comets (10-10, 7-6 MIAA) are back in action Saturday, Feb. 10, when they host Alma College. Tip-off from the Upton Center is 3 p.m.
