Fix and Pearson named to 2005 All-MIAA basketball teams
Olivet College seniors Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park) and Ronnie Pearson (Holly) have earned 2005 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team honors in women’s and men’s basketball, respectively.
Olivet College seniors Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park) and Ronnie Pearson (Holly) have earned 2005 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team honors in women's and men's basketball, respectively.
Fix led the Lady Comets in scoring (11.5 points per game) this year. She was second in rebounding (4.4 rpg) and steals (58) and third in assists (43) and field goal percentage (.428). Fix ends her four-year career with 970 points, which ranks sixth all-time at Olivet. Pearson ranked third on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg) and second in rebounding (4.1 rpg). He shot 54.4 percent (99-of-182) from the floor to lead the Fighting Comets. Pearson finishes his career with 802 points.
In addition, Tonya Dawson (Marshall), Kari Searles (Marshall) and Stephanie Smith (Waldron/Camden Frontier) were named to the coaches' honorable mention team. Jerame File (Jackson/Hanover-Horton) and De'Andre Pruitt (River Rouge) also earned coaches' honorable mention honors.
Fourth-year Head Coach Deanna Richard and the women's team finished the season with a 7-18 overall record and 2-14 MIAA mark. Under first-year Head Coach Kurt Soderberg, the men had a 11-15 overall record and 5-9 MIAA mark.
