The women’s basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) co-leader Hope College, 79-56, tonight at the Dow Center in Holland.
The women's basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) co-leader Hope College, 79-56, tonight at the Dow Center in Holland.
The Flying Dutch (16-2, 9-1 MIAA) led by as many as 16 points twice in the first half with the last time being, 31-15, at the 6:11 mark. The Lady Comets (7-11, 2-8 MIAA) used a quick 6-0 run to their deficit to 10 points. At halftime, Hope led 40-25. In the second half, the Dutch stretched their lead to 31 points with 10:47 mark.
Junior Kari Searles (Marshall) led the Comets with 11 points. Senior Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park) and sophomore Stephanie Smith (Camden/Waldron Frontier) chipped in with 10 points apiece. Fix also grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Adelynn Vilmann had a double-double, 14 points and 11 rebounds, as 15 Hope players scored at least two points. Ellen Wood contributed 12 points.
The Comets will travel to play Adrian College this Saturday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m.
