The Olivet College women’s basketball team suffered a 63-53 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College this evening at the Upton Center in Olivet.
The Olivet College women's basketball team suffered a 63-53 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College this evening at the Upton Center in Olivet.
The Hornets (9-9, 4-5 MIAA) scored the first 13 points of the game and never looked back. The Lady Comets (7-10, 2-7 MIAA) closed to within nine points twice later in the half with the last time being 23-14 with 3:16 left. In the second half, Kalamazoo stretched its lead out to 19 points, 52-33, at the 8:16 mark. Olivet trimmed its deficit to 10 points on five occasions, including the final margin of defeat.
Senior Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park) tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, two assists and six steals in 37 minutes. Junior Kari Searles (Marshall) also scored in double digits with 10 points. Freshman Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) scored nine points and also grabbed eight rebounds.
The Comets are on the road for their two remaining games this week. On Wednesday, they will play Hope College at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, they are at Adrian College for a 3 p.m. game.
