Women's basketball team defeats Alma, 55-51
Senior Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park) scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Olivet College women's basketball team to a 55-51 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College, 55-51, this evening at Cappaert Gymnasium in Alma.

For the game, the Lady Comets (7-6, 2-3 MIAA) made 20-of-46 shots (43.5%) from the floor while the Scots (6-5, 1-4 MIAA) made 16-of-58 (27.6%) baskets. Joining Fix in double figures for Olivet were sophomore Cassie Monette (Holt) and senior Essence Porter (Battle Creek/Central) with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Monette also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman Jaime Kowalczyk (Wyandotte Roosevelt) contributed nine points and six rebounds in 17 minutes.
Abigail Way had 12 points to lead Alma. Mindy VanDamme finished with 11 points and Michelle Dettling pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds, including 11 off the defensive glass.
The Comets will have a pair of road contests next week. On Wednesday, they travel to play Albion College at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, they are at Calvin College at 3 p.m.
