Women's basketball team defeats Anderson, 76-61, in consolation game of Anderson Tip-off Tournament
The women's basketball team defeated Anderson (Ind.) University, 76-61, this afternoon in the consolation game of the Anderson Tip-off Tournament. For her efforts in the tournament, senior Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park) was named to the all-tournament team.

The Lady Comets (1-1) scored the first five points of the game only to see the Ravens (0-2) go on an 8-2 run to take an 8-7 lead. Anderson took its own five-point lead. The Comets fought back and forced ties with the last one being 24-24 with 3:18 left in the opening half. The Ravens outscored Olivet, 9-4 to lead by five at halftime.
In the second half, junior Kari Searles (Marshall) scored the first seven points. After a 46-all tie, Olivet went on an 18-8 run to put the game away. The Comets stretched their lead to as many as 16 points with 39 seconds remaining.
Olivet placed four players in double figures. Searles led the way with 18 points. Fix chipped in with 16, followed by first-year players Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) and Jaime Kowalczyk (Wyandotte-Roosevelt) with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Sophomore Cassie Monette (Holt) pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
Olivet is next in action Tuesday, Nov. 23 when it hosts Marygrove College at the Upton Center at 7:30 p.m.
