The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 47-42, tonight at the Upton Center.
The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 47-42, tonight at the Upton Center.
After the Britons (13-3, 4-2 MIAA) took a nine-point lead at the 7:58 mark, the Lady Comets used a 8-0 run over the next four minutes to trail by one point. Albion scored the last seven points of the half to take a 26-18 lead at the break.
Olivet went on a 10-1 run in a span of just over four minutes in the second half to tie the game at 36-36 with 6:39 remaining in the contest. The Britons grabbed the lead right back, and never relinquished it for the rest of the game. Albion sealed the victory by making six-of-eight free throws in the final 2:08 of the game.
Leading the way for Olivet was senior guard Molly Lipton (Ann Arbor/Pioneer High School) with a game-high 15 points. Sophomore center Courtney Ivan (Belleville High School) posted her first double-double this season with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Sarah Caskey led the Britons with 13 points, followed by Angie Spain with 11 points. Jocelyn Zappala grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.
Olivet will next play on Saturday, Jan. 17 when it hosts Calvin College at 3 p.m.
